MultiPurpose Bone Plates™
BioMedtrix has introduced a system of bone plates (2.0mm, 2.7mm and 3.5mm in both standard and thick) along with an easy to use contouring tower in order to address multiple clinical needs with one bone plate. We have developed this plate in conjunction with Dr. Marvin Olmstead and incorporated his design and clinical experience to create a high quality versatile system.
The multiple applications with this bone plate design include, but are not limited to, pelvic osteotomy, ilial shaft fracture, proximal tibial osteotomy, distal radial fracture, and partial carpal arthrodesis. This versatility minimizes the need to inventory a wide selection of plates and pins in order to address these same clinical cases.
The plate is symmetrical, has a combination of angulation and compression slots, and can be bent into left and right components.
The multi-purpose plate is manufactured from 316 LVM stainless steel, the standard material for surgical implants, which provides the highest degree of success given its clinical history and laboratory testing. Deviations from this standard can impact product strength, bio-compatibility, and corrosion resistance.
Contouring Tower
The MultiPurpose Bone Plate™ Contouring Fixture has been designed to more ergonomically bend and twist bone plates thereby reducing the iterative process and yield a more accurate fit to the bone in multiple clinical applications.
Contouring Adapters specific to plate thickness are selected. The bending iron has the same width slots appropriately marked according to the selected plate. With the adapter assembled in place, the bending iron can then bend and twist the plate to specific angles for the clinical application.
By using optimal fulcrum principles, plates can be easily bent based on aluminum templates previously contoured to the bone site. The fixture allows for minimal force to contour the plate and at the same time provide control for accurate bends and twists.
